Review of Thule 591 ProRide Cycle Carrier

The good:

We have some really nice bikes and we like to travel with them so I spent a lot of time deciding on the Thule 591. The Proride was the most secure roof mounted cycle carrier that I could find, both in terms of protecting the mike whilst moving and whilst stationary. I decided on roof mounting after seeing the road muck that can be thrown up at the back of a vehicle and decided against fork mounting after reading about the stress that it can place on carbon forks. So far I'd guess that we've done about 10,000 miles with the 4 Thule 591 Prorides including trips from Scotland to the Alps, Pyrenees and Flanders. The only maintenance so far is the odd squirt of GT85 on the locks and the ratchet mechanism.

The bad:

Not cheap, but neither was your bike...
